zelfcensuur

“zelfcensuur” is a project about carrying different persona’s.

Within this project I go into this world of self reflection. I noticed that I often show a different side to the people I meet. Where I show some people the happy go lucky version, others may get the reserved shy version of me. These different versions create a scattered image of what people will have.

All these versions are constantly in dialogue with each other. The true self, the masked self and the reserved self are trying to compete with eachother. Where the true self always wants to be present the reserved self and the masked self are trying to protect what can be damaged.

The lino prints serve the role of taking home a piece of me. As you interact with the installation, by taking home an image, you get a version of the selves. This refers to the way people take home a piece of me as they interact with me as a person. They get to know a part of me, which I will never be able to change.
